Rebecca

rebecca.jpgYour name: Rebecca Neubert

Workshop: week 1  holla!

If you have a nickname, what is it? Bec, Neubie

Are you single, married, have children?  Single for the moment - getting married Sept. 15... which will also change my answer to the first question.  By February, I'll be Rebecca Schlieman.  Ahhhh!  That is so crazy!!

If you have children: how many, what are their names, how old are they: Check back in about 5 years.  no really, kids later - we just want time to be married and do fun things like traveling together first.

What state do you live in? Right now I live in Raleigh, NC - I like to stick to the coast - have lived in Charleston, SC, San Diego, CA, and Wilmington, NC.

What do you spend way too much of your time doing?  Checking email - I don't want to miss anything.  And second? Reading blogs

What do you wish you could spend more of your time doing?  So many things - laying at the beach, reading, riding my bike, hanging out with friends..

How did photography find you? Growing up my mom always had a camera in her hand - we must have thousands and thousands of photos of my sister and I growing up.  When I got my first camera, I just found that I loved having the chance to create something, and show people how I saw things.  It makes me feel a bit closer to who I am supposed to be.  Wish I had figured that out early enough to pursue it in college, but alas, engineering called....

What is your favorite thing to take pictures of? I love catching people in a genuine moment… and I love showing a different perspective on the ordinary things in life.

How long have you been doing photography? and getting paid for it?  uh, maybe 1 year.  But I've been attached to my camera since I was 6.

Do you have a photography business? If so, for how long? I do have a business and it's BRAND new!  I'm just getting started- trying to figure out how to do this well enough that I can quit my "real" job (designing surgical instruments - ha).  Really though, we just filed paperwork about a month ago, but it's been a dream for a loooong time.  And we have a long way to go!

What is your favorite food?
I'm a big fan of vanilla ice cream with peaches and caramel mixed in - even a cookout milkshake with peaches and caramel... I know it sounds a little weird, but trust me - it's awesome!!  I also love the Chicken Bryan at Carabbas, chips and salsa are one of my favorite snacks - so addicting.  and chocolate is pretty stinking high up on my favorites list.

What is something you can’t live without? My ipod - i have to have music, it's just a necessity.

What is something no one knows about you? i sometimes sneak ice cream for breakfast...

What is on your iPod or Playlist: right now, mutemath, anberlin, augustana, david gray, secondhand serenade, shaun groves… the list could go on and on….

Are you a night owl or early riser? Night owl by nature, Early riser by force - have to get up for work - but I've always been a night owl, and that tendency still wins out sometimes.

What is your favorite guilty pleasure?  Chocolate.

If you could have dinner with anyone in the world…dead or alive, who would it be?  I'd love to have dinner with my grandfather again.  He passed away in April, it was really sudden and unexpected, and I didn't get to say goodbye.

What are some things that you like? the sun, love, my friends, traveling, music, authenticity , laughter,

What are some things you don’t like? green peppers – can’t stand the taste… not sure why.  And  dishonesty – just tell me the truth, even if you think I won’t like it.

When you can do anything, what do you do?   Go to the beach!  Give me some waves, the sand, the sun, and a beach towel and I'm a happy girl.

What do you have to do before you die?  I want to travel everywhere!  Checking Spain and Hawaii off my list this year!  Maybe go skydiving, definitely scuba dive!  oh!  and I'd love to go kite surfing... that looks awesome!

Tell us something more about you:

Funny   One of my roommates in college swore I was in school to be a plumber instead of an engineer… she kept hearing me talk about classes like “solids” and “fluids”… well, I’ll let you take it from there… hahahaha

Serious i am not a neat freak, but i can't stand a dirty kitchen!

Entertaining I’m always singing or humming something.  Most of the time I don’t even realize it.  And if I’ve heard a song, most likely I have all the words memorized… weird talent I have.

Philosophical I used to think I had to have all the answers – but I’ve realized life is a lot more fun and makes a lot more sense when I don’t have all the answers (which sounds like a paradox, I know).    Things happen, usually for a pretty good reason, even if we can’t see it at the moment.   God’s kinda crazy like that.

Exciting I am getting married!!!

True I have lived in 9 different places in the last 7 years.  I’m about to make it number 10, but hopefully we won’t be moving for a while.

Meaningful I have come to realize the preciousness (is that a word?) of life even more in the past few months.  That makes me want to live every day to its absolute fullest – to enjoy the twists and turns, the ups and downs…. And how all those things come together to make something amazing.

Powerful I strive to do the best I can at everything I do.  I don’t believe in doing things half way.
Name 2 of your weaknesses:

Saying no.  I hate to disappoint people.

Confrontation – I hate that too.  Sometimes I don’t stick up for myself enough… but I’m working on that.

Name 5 of your strengths: organization

hard-working

fun-loving

passionate

friendly
