Elaine

elainecolorweb.jpgYour name: elaine brenner

Workshop: Week 2

Are you single, married, have children? Married, with kids

If you have children: how many, what are their names, how old are they:

7 year old Caroline, five year old Grace and one year old John Michael

What state do you live in ? Indiana

What do you spend way too much of your time doing?Heavens…staring at my laptop! My husband thinks my MAC and I share an umbilical cord.

What do you wish you could spend more of your time doing? Sleeping…

How did photography find you?I hired a woman to take photos of my kids, saw what she did and thought, THAT would be fun! And here I am…

What is your favorite thing to take pictures of?

Kids, for sure…my own or anyone else’s.

How long have you been doing photography ?

Professionally, six months…as a hobby, since high school

Do you have a photography business? If so, for how long? Yes, six months

What is your favorite food? Hmmm…this is a hard one. I love the chicken salad croissants at a local bakery…heavenly!

What is something you can’t live without? ACTUALLY, my family. But, it feels like I can’t live without my MAC. I bet I’d survive, though…

What is something no one knows about you? I used to have a paralyzing fear of flying and thunderstorms…thankfully they are no longer so intense! Oh yeah, and I love reality TV…

What is on your iPod or Playlist:

High School Musical 2

Are you a night owl or early riser?Early riser by necessity, but would rather be a night owl

What is your favorite guilty pleasure?

TV…especially Entourage and 24…but also love Prison Break and House.

If you could have dinner with anyone in the world…dead or alive, who would it be?My mom’s mom…who was called “Mom” even by the grandkids. I’d love to know more about my own mother, what she was like as a child, what she loved, what made her afraid....things only a mom can truly describe …well, for that matter, even though I had countless dinners with her, I’d love to have one more with my mom.

What are some things that you like? Falling asleep with people milling around the house

What are some things you don’t like
?Wet socks, doing the dishes

When you can do anything, what do you do? Read some sort of mindless Grisham-type book

What do you have to do before you die? Hang out in Ireland doing absolutely nothing.

Tell us something more about you:

Funny

I kept a Y2K closet from 1999-2000 with tons of bottled water and batteries…my husband thought I was nuts but I was convinced I would have the last laugh when we were living on beef jerky and reading by candlelight!

Serious

I miss my mother with a gut-wrenching ache at times…even 6 years after her death.

Entertaining

I can do a pretty mean Cher imitation…but will only do it spontaneously…never on demand!

Philosophical

Something is only a big deal if you make it a big deal. In other words, relax.

Exciting

I’m going to the Love Affair Workshop!

True

I am one of the most loyal people out there.

Meaningful

I only hope that as I continue to be a mother, I can be half the mother my mom was to me, to my own kids.

Powerful

My singing voice…people have said it is pretty powerful

Name 2 of your weaknesses:

My son crinkling up his nose when he smiles (he can get anything he wants that way) and six-month old babies

Name 5 of your strengths:

Even-keeled

Loyal

Fair

Accepting

Thorough

Elaine, you made me cry. I lost my mom six years ago and I can relate to the gut wrenching ache. Sometimes, even at 36 you just need your mom. Can't wait to meet you in Bald Head. Looking forward to sharing time with you. stephanie

Your y2k story totally cracks me up!

I can't imagine being without my mom. And I so echo your senitments about being half the mom your mom has been to you. I feel the same way.

I'm sure you're doing a beautiful job of being a loving mom.
