Beverly

Your name:  Beverly Tyler

Workshop:     week 1

If you have a nickname, what is it?

Are you single, married, have children?
I am not single or married. I am in that other area, the committed, attached, in love with someone space. I have 3 children, all of which live out on their own, and 2 grandchildren.

If you have children: how many, what are their names, how old are they:
Children, Yes – Seth 27, Ashley 26, Zack 21 yrs old.
Grandchildren, Yes Korbin 7 and Maggie 6 yrs old. So if I had a nickname for the above question it would be Nina as that is what they call me.

What state do you live in? North Carolina

What do you spend way too much of your time doing?
At this time I am spending most of my time trying to get organized to make this year successful. Restarting the photography business and working my job at the hospital. I used film before with photography and now I am struggling (serious word) with making this happen in the digital format. From programs, developing the web site to using this MacPro, all are adding up to a learning curve I am sliding off of at times.

What do you wish you could spend more of your time doing?
Doing it all RIGHT on the first try. That would free a lot of time up for relaxing.
Also could use some travel about now.

How did photography find you?
I found it during my first pregnancy, 28 years ago. I wanted a good camera and started looking. I found it in a camera store in downtown Wilmington, but it cost too much money. When I was leaving the store one of the salesmen followed me outside and told me the same camera was for sale in Charlotte, NC (3 hour drive) for half of the price. Well off we went to Charlotte, which sounds easy except I spent all day, every day, sick during the pregnancy. This meant the 3 hour trip took many more hours to accomplish. But I got it and headed back. The first picture was a landscape coming home. It was a manual Nikon and I loved it, right up until the sad day 23 years later when I dropped it and heard it crack.

What is your favorite thing to take pictures of?
Newborns in the first minutes or hours of their life. They are different then, still somewhere between quite and alone and loud and with us.

How long have you been doing photography?
I have been using a camera for 26 years.

Do you have a photography business?  If so, for how long?
I had a photography business for about 3 years that I closed at my husband death 3 years ago. I am now in the process of restarting that business.

What is your favorite food?
Pizza, cheese, lobster, and shrimp - the list could go on.

What is something you can’t live without?
Love mixed with peace.

What is something no one knows about you?

What is on your iPod or Playlist:
Alison Krauss, Gwen Stefani, Akon, Josh Groban, a mix of everything

Are you a night owl or early riser?
I can be both, but seems the older I get the worse I feel lying in bed until late. If I know I am getting up early I would rather just get to bed early. Regular noise in the room like the TV going or someone moving around does not bother me. If I am sleepy I will sleep.

What is your favorite guilty pleasure?
Dark Chocolate, really good chocolate.

If you could have dinner with anyone in the world…dead or alive, who would it be?
Probably my late husband with my children and grandchildren also with us. Just to find out where he is and so they could see him a minute.

What are some things that you like?
People, roses, seeing new places, a few minutes of calmness.

What are some things you don’t like?
Judgment, cold wind mixed with wet clothes.

When you can do anything, what do you do?
Work on photos for family and friends, get on the computer and surf around, read, relax and spend time with people I love.

What do you have to do before you die?
That list will not fit here. This I know; I could die without getting one more thing done.
If I could pick one thing it would be to see a great grandchild born.

Tell us something more about you:

Funny
I am still trying to grow up at this age.

Serious
My life is fragile, even though others see me as strong.

Entertaining
I can have fun doing just about anything.

Philosophical
I try to not judge, I find understanding for those others do not.

Exciting
I am finding a new life and having a great time doing it.

True
I can do anything I want to do in life, I can make it happen.

Meaningful
I am loved.

Name 2 of your weaknesses:
I struggle to be organized and never seem to find an end to the list of things to do.
I have some fear.

Name 5 of your strengths:
I am kind, generous, patient, pretty easy to talk too, and truthful.

Another NC girl. Yeah!! Sorry to hear about your husband. But it sounds like you have lots of family around to keep you busy. See you on Sunday.
