Hello Ladies!!!

SO!  The time has come.  It's the beginning of the year and it's a wonderful time to start a new ritual/habit. Over the next week or so keep your eye out for a journal that screams YOU.  It needs to be something that you look forward to writing in and that you will want to pour your soul out on to it's pages.

Keeping a journal is so important for you and getting specific guidance for you, your life, your business, and your relationships.  There is no other way to get the inspiration that comes from writing (I'm pretty passionate about this and you can see more about what I've written on my blog in my LOVE. LIFE. TIPS.)

Take a week or so to find your perfect journal.  Over the next weeks until the workshop we'll be emailing topics to you.  Take some time to write in your journal about the different subjects we give you before you arrive on the island.  It would be best if you can write about each topic within a couple of days of receiving it.  You, of course, do not HAVE to do this activity.  However, your experience at Love Affair will be much richer if you do.

Workshop: week 1

If you have a nickname, what is it? When I was little my mom would call me taterbug and occasionally she still does.

Are you single, married, have children? Married May 2006 and no little ones yet.

If you have children: how many, what are their names, how old are they: For now we have Chip our 7 year old Chocolate lab and Charlie our 1 year old black kitty cat.

What state do you live in ? Alabama! Roll Tide Roll!

What do you spend way too much of your time doing? Blog stalking and watching a lot of HGTV and The Food Network.

What do you wish you could spend more of your time doing? I wish I would read and study more. I have never really been a big reader.

How did photography find you? My boyfriend, now husband, Bo, bought my first SLR camera, the good ol’ Canon Rebel G. That was six years ago. I took one photography class at the community college and then transferred to a local University in Secondary Education. My first semester there I discovered they had an art program. That day I changed my major, dropped the dreadful Geography course, and became an art student.

What is your favorite thing to take pictures of? Definitely people.

How long have you been doing photography ? I guess about six years?

Do you have a photography business? If so, for how long? I do. It has been and still is a work in progress for almost two years. I hope after this workshop I will be able to go full time J

What is your favorite food? This is a hard one! I love food, just about anything. If I had to say my favorite, I suppose that would be my grandmother’s Chicken –n- Dumplings, YUM. I love it when she calls and says she is making it for me! I guess that would be a Southern thing J

What is something you can’t live without? I would not know what I would do without my amazing husband. He truly is the most honest, giving, selfless human being I know. He makes me a better person.

What is on your iPod or Playlist: Casting Crowns, Starfield, Third Day, Maroon 5, Corinne Bailey Rae it really depends on what mood I am in, but I love my mood when I listen to the new Casting Crowns CD.

Are you a night owl or early riser? Trying to be an early riser, but more of a night owl.

What is your favorite guilty pleasure? Make-up. Who knows why, but when they have those bonus gifts, I find something I need!?! Honest, I have every gift, ever!

If you could have dinner with anyone in the world…dead or alive, who would it be? Umm….I think a dinner conversation with former President Bill Clinton would be interesting.

What are some things that you like? I love Fall and College Football. Christmas is my absolute favorite time of year! I love being at the beach, I will live there at some point in my life. I love friendly people; they make your day so much better J

What are some things you don’t like ? Lousy tippers and bad drivers!!!

When you can do anything, what do you do? RELAX. Have some me time J

What do you have to do before you die? Hopefully have great grand children, go to Italy, visit all 50 states, own a ton of land so Bo and I can have horses and enjoy retired life.

Tell us something more about you:

Funny I am pretty sure that I am dyslexic and have ADHD. I have a problem concentrating on one thing at a time. I seem to always get my words mixed up when I speak or write. It is frustrating at times, but can be funny too.

Serious I take my work very seriously.

Entertaining Sometimes when I am shooting I forget to look where I am going. So much so, that I stepped right in a hole and went straight to the ground in front of a whole wedding party not to long ago.

Workshop: Week 2

If you have a nickname, what is it? I don’t have one. But people call me Perez sometimes. Same thing happens to my husband. I am always like, “We do have first names.” LOL

Are you single, married, have children? Married, no children yet.

What state do you live in ? I live in Dallas, Texas but was born in Oregon.

What do you spend way too much of your time doing? Looking at Blogs.

What do you wish you could spend more of your time doing? Sleeping

How did photography find you? My husband is also a wedding photographer, I have always admired him. I have admired his dedication to his work and his joy for life. I realized I loved doing it after he asked me to come and second shoot with him recently… within the last year.

What is your favorite thing to take pictures of? I love taking pictures of my goddaughters and wedding wise, pre –ceremony because there’s so much emotion during those few hours before a wedding.

How long have you been doing photography ? Less than 1 year. J

Do you have a photography business? If so, for how long? Yes, I am half owner of Perez Photography. I have only actively been shooting for less than a year. My husband has been shooting weddings for about 3 years, maybe a little bit less than that.

What is your favorite food? Italian food has to be my favorite. Chicken Parmesan is my favorite. Yuuuuuummmmm! Favorite desert has to be hands down Cheesecake!

What is something you can’t live without? Carmex and running water to bathe in. And of course shampoo etc, Hygiene stuff!

What is something no one knows about you? Oooooh this is a tough one, I don’t have something that absolutely no one knows about me, but for you girls… I seem quiet but I am really not. I am very observant and like to assess situations. I am an over thinker most definitely.

What is on your iPod or Playlist: Right now I have been jamming out to the new Tallib Kweli and Common album’s (Yes, I love me some good hip hop) Bobby Valentino, Ne-Yo, Justin Timberlake, Colbie Caillat, Corinne Bailey Rae, Ray Lamontagne, (Check him out if you’ve never heard of him!) Jack Johnson, Camila, Reik, John Legend I like a wide variety of music.

Are you a night owl or early riser? I am an early riser. I get sleepy really early.

What are some things that you like? I like sleeping as you can probably see from the above answers. J I like to go out to dinner, spend time with my family and friends. Traveling, Grey’s Anatomy, Entourage, I like to watch figure skating on TV (Random I know!) And I like to watch people at airports and wonder where they are all headed.

What are some things you don’t like ? I hate jealousy and mean people. Liars, traffic and hot weather,

When you can do anything, what do you do? Travel to a different place.

What do you have to do before you die? I have to visit Paris and London before I die.

Funny Cesar says I cussed him out one night while I was asleep. He must have made me mad in my dream!

Serious I count my steps sometimes from the car to the house hoping that the number of steps will change, but I don’t do it anywhere else or all the time, not sure if this is serious or funny.

Entertaining When I was growing up in school, teachers would always call my mom to tell her that I was too bossy and that I always wanted to be the first one in line and always wanted everyone to do as I said.
