chelsey.jpgYour name: Chelsey Boatwright

Workshop: week 1

Are you single, married, have children: I’m single & have no kids.

What state do you live in ? Florida

What do you spend way too much of your time doing?

Editing all my photos & working on my freelance graphic design jobs.

What do you wish you could spend more of your time doing?  Learning more about my camera, finding ways to get people to take more interesting photos for me & how to make a business out of taking pictures.

How did photography find you? I first began taking pictures in highschool for my newspaper and later became the photography editor too. While getting my Bachelor’s in Graphic Design I also took many photography classes that inspired me to take my photography a little further. Now while working as full-time Graphic Designer I have been doing photography on the side.

What is your favorite thing to take pictures of? I love taking candid photos of people. When someone looks back at my pictures I hope it takes them back to that exact moment & time.

How long have you been doing photography ? 8 years, but not as a business.

Do you have a photography business? If so, for how long? No, not currently. I am an assistant to a Photographer right now. I have been her (Karen Lucchini) for about 1 & ½ years. I hope to start my own photography business in the next year. I am moving in the next 2 months and I will try to build my business then.

What is your favorite food? Pretty much anything with sauce on it is good to me & also pasta or anything Italian is good to me too.

What is something you can’t live without? Lipgloss, Q-tips, diet coke or diet dr. pepper

What is something no one knows about you? I get embarrassed easily.

What is on your iPod or Playlist: Amos Lee, Ray Lamontagne, Sia & Rachael Yamagata

Are you a night owl or early riser? I’m more of a night owl.

What is your favorite guilty pleasure? Pasta, pizza & yummy ice cream.

If you could have dinner with anyone in the world…dead or alive, who would it be? I would probably eat dinner with my grandmother who passed away suddenly. I would have liked to spend more time with her.

What are some things that you like? My dog Lily, my family, & getting together with old friends.

What are some things you don’t like
? I hate the cold b/c I have an allergy to it & I don’t like it when people have large egos & forget where they came from.

When you can do anything, what do you do? Go to Greece, I’ve always wanted to go there.

What do you have to do before you die? Go to the Caribbean and hang out & relax on a sail boat for about a month.

Tell us something more about you: My name comes from the movie On Golden Pond

Funny I have red crazy big hair!

Serious: I am allergic to the cold! I get hives and itch really bad.

Entertaining I can just play with my dog for hours. Sometimes I think she understands me more than people.

Philosophical We all want similar things, we just take different roads to get there.

Exciting I can’t wait to start my Photography Business!

True I don’t know what it takes to make my business successful.

Meaningful I am not afraid to take chance, especially if I know I’ll be better off by taking the chance.

Powerful I believe that if I set a goal I will achieve it.

Name 2 of your weaknesses: Organization & having to make quick decisions

Name 5 of your strengths: dependable, truthful, leader, can get along with almost anyone, I can come up with new ideas easily.

I'm working on my photoshop skills to teach all of you and needed to know what version you have. It is best to be able to work with actions, which I know that Elements doesn't have. Thanks!

Rebecca

rebecca.jpgYour name: Rebecca Neubert

Workshop: week 1  holla!

If you have a nickname, what is it? Bec, Neubie

Are you single, married, have children?  Single for the moment - getting married Sept. 15... which will also change my answer to the first question.  By February, I'll be Rebecca Schlieman.  Ahhhh!  That is so crazy!!

If you have children: how many, what are their names, how old are they: Check back in about 5 years.  no really, kids later - we just want time to be married and do fun things like traveling together first.

What state do you live in? Right now I live in Raleigh, NC - I like to stick to the coast - have lived in Charleston, SC, San Diego, CA, and Wilmington, NC.

What do you spend way too much of your time doing?  Checking email - I don't want to miss anything.  And second? Reading blogs

What do you wish you could spend more of your time doing?  So many things - laying at the beach, reading, riding my bike, hanging out with friends..

How did photography find you? Growing up my mom always had a camera in her hand - we must have thousands and thousands of photos of my sister and I growing up.  When I got my first camera, I just found that I loved having the chance to create something, and show people how I saw things.  It makes me feel a bit closer to who I am supposed to be.  Wish I had figured that out early enough to pursue it in college, but alas, engineering called....

What is your favorite thing to take pictures of? I love catching people in a genuine moment… and I love showing a different perspective on the ordinary things in life.

How long have you been doing photography? and getting paid for it?  uh, maybe 1 year.  But I've been attached to my camera since I was 6.

Do you have a photography business? If so, for how long? I do have a business and it's BRAND new!  I'm just getting started- trying to figure out how to do this well enough that I can quit my "real" job (designing surgical instruments - ha).  Really though, we just filed paperwork about a month ago, but it's been a dream for a loooong time.  And we have a long way to go!

What is your favorite food?
I'm a big fan of vanilla ice cream with peaches and caramel mixed in - even a cookout milkshake with peaches and caramel... I know it sounds a little weird, but trust me - it's awesome!!  I also love the Chicken Bryan at Carabbas, chips and salsa are one of my favorite snacks - so addicting.  and chocolate is pretty stinking high up on my favorites list.

What is something you can’t live without? My ipod - i have to have music, it's just a necessity.

What is something no one knows about you? i sometimes sneak ice cream for breakfast...

What is on your iPod or Playlist: right now, mutemath, anberlin, augustana, david gray, secondhand serenade, shaun groves… the list could go on and on….

Are you a night owl or early riser? Night owl by nature, Early riser by force - have to get up for work - but I've always been a night owl, and that tendency still wins out sometimes.

What is your favorite guilty pleasure?  Chocolate.

If you could have dinner with anyone in the world…dead or alive, who would it be?  I'd love to have dinner with my grandfather again.  He passed away in April, it was really sudden and unexpected, and I didn't get to say goodbye.

What are some things that you like? the sun, love, my friends, traveling, music, authenticity , laughter,

What are some things you don’t like? green peppers – can’t stand the taste… not sure why.  And  dishonesty – just tell me the truth, even if you think I won’t like it.

When you can do anything, what do you do?   Go to the beach!  Give me some waves, the sand, the sun, and a beach towel and I'm a happy girl.

What do you have to do before you die?  I want to travel everywhere!  Checking Spain and Hawaii off my list this year!  Maybe go skydiving, definitely scuba dive!  oh!  and I'd love to go kite surfing... that looks awesome!

Tell us something more about you:

Funny   One of my roommates in college swore I was in school to be a plumber instead of an engineer… she kept hearing me talk about classes like “solids” and “fluids”… well, I’ll let you take it from there… hahahaha

Serious i am not a neat freak, but i can't stand a dirty kitchen!

Entertaining I’m always singing or humming something.  Most of the time I don’t even realize it.  And if I’ve heard a song, most likely I have all the words memorized… weird talent I have.

Philosophical I used to think I had to have all the answers – but I’ve realized life is a lot more fun and makes a lot more sense when I don’t have all the answers (which sounds like a paradox, I know).    Things happen, usually for a pretty good reason, even if we can’t see it at the moment.   God’s kinda crazy like that.

Exciting I am getting married!!!

True I have lived in 9 different places in the last 7 years.  I’m about to make it number 10, but hopefully we won’t be moving for a while.

Meaningful I have come to realize the preciousness (is that a word?) of life even more in the past few months.  That makes me want to live every day to its absolute fullest – to enjoy the twists and turns, the ups and downs…. And how all those things come together to make something amazing.

Powerful I strive to do the best I can at everything I do.  I don’t believe in doing things half way.
Name 2 of your weaknesses:

Saying no.  I hate to disappoint people.

Confrontation – I hate that too.  Sometimes I don’t stick up for myself enough… but I’m working on that.

Name 5 of your strengths: organization

hard-working

fun-loving

passionate

friendly
